indian brave

[Truly Madly Deeply navajo print top (similar one here).  True Religion Bobby Cutoffs.  Gianni Bini Cassie Pump.  Tarnish Multi Zip Crossbody Satchel.  Vintage Woven Belt.  Free People, Alex and Ani, David Yurman and Vintage Jewelry.]

As soon as I laid eyes on this overly-huge-yet-cropped Navajo print shirt, I was sold.  It's the perfect thing to throw on after you've been in the sun all day and the air conditioning just seems way too cold in comparison (does anyone else get like this?).  I was also naturally obsessed with the print, as Navajo designs have been all over the place.  To me, the look has that light-hearted appeal that's perfect for summer.  You can find tons of similar pieces at Urban Outfitters if this top tickles your fancy (here's a few to get you started).

beautiful buzz

[Persol Sunglasses.  F21 sweater. F21 leatherette shorts.  Jessica Simpson Dany Platforms.  Vintage Leather Bracelet. YSL Ring.  Aldo Feather Earrings.]

This is me having way too much fun posing with my boyfriend's Persol sunglasses after a day of drinking gin and tonics with friends.  It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, so it would have been absurd not to spend it in the sunshine enjoying our first taste of Spring.  I can't wait for more days like this in the near future.

china cat sunflower

[B.B. Dakota Leather Jacket.  Free People Tee.  F21 Leggings.  Jeffrey Campbell Over The Knee Boots.  OrYany bag.  F21 necklace.  Yves Saint Laurant and Vintage Rings.]

I wore this look out last weekend while roaming around town, and realized I could seriously live in this thin B.B. Dakota leather jacket.  It's the perfect thickness for a place like Florida that hardly ever gets outrageously cold (and it's on sale now if you're in the market for a new jacket!).  As for the accessories, I decided to merge two of my favorite styles together - rocker and bohemian - by pairing over the knee boots with earthy accessories.  Hope you like this look.. It's the one I submitted to the lovely judges over at Refinery29 for the Next Big Style Blogger contest!

vintage gucci & enchanted forests

[vintage gucci bag.  gianni bini sweater.  f21 leggings.  urban outfitters tank top.  jessica simpson ballet flats.  chanel sunglasses.]

After a long day of running errands, D and I decided to go check out the "enchanted forest" about a mile from our house.  I was dressed for function instead of fashion, but my mother's vintage Gucci bag made the outfit a bit more special (and the ballet flats let me run around and play like a kid).  It's so nice to really enjoy the little things in life.. Whether it's enchanted forests or vintage Gucci.

black hats and over the knee boots

[vintage hat.  f21 sweater. vintage leather belt.  h&m dress.  jeffrey campbell over the knee boots.  hue tights.  furla bag]

The temperature has been unusually cold here in Florida, so bundling up has been essential.  I wanted to play around with some fun but weather appropriate looks, so I decided to dress-down my over the knee boots with a slouchy sweater (which is my new favorite item for cuddling up).  The outfit definitely did its job of keeping me comfortable, warm, and fashionable in this crazy weather.

vintage leopard

[h&m dress.  vintage leopard belt.  happening in the present light sweater.  steve madden booties.  vintage cuff. furla bag. yurman and vintage bracelets. vintage gucci watch.]

One of my favorite things about fashion is how you can mix and match trends with classic or eclectic pieces until you get the perfect combination that fits your style, and a vintage piece that adds an unexpected twist is a great way to start.  Vintage pieces (like this leopard belt) or things I find at thrift stores always seem to make me feel that my ensemble is completely original - that no one else in the world can dress exactly like me.  That's the feeling that fashion should give you.  If you like to follow trends, that's great! I do, just make sure you let your personality shine through.  That's what will make you feel good about yourself, and that's all that matters.

the other side vintage

One of the great things about Tallahassee, Florida is its plethora of eclectic vintage shops.  The other day, I spent a few hours wandering around The Other Side Vintage, and walked away with some amazing finds - including the antique trunk pictured above.  The shop had a huge selection of shoes, hats, furniture, and also displayed a ton of adorable Halloween trinkets.  If you're in the area, definitely stop by and check it out!
