evil urges

[f21 fringe bed jacket, urban outfitters lace dress, asos boots, handmade and vintage necklaces]

It's been far too long since I've updated Lovely Little Vices, so what better way to start it back up than with an outfit post?  I wore this to see My Morning Jacket last night (I highly recommend you check them out if you haven't already), and loved the Victorian-yet-casual appeal of the pieces.  The slouchiness of the bed jacket and the low boots made it comfortable, but the lace, fringe, and jewels made it feel special.  I think the mix of Victorian and Bohemian is my go-to look for winter, so I'm sure you'll be seeing me in similar looks soon.

lately

[Cut Copy with my gorgeous best friends for my Birthday]
[At a Widespread Panic show with my two favorite boys]
[Enjoying rainy, fall days]
[Happy Hours in Tallahassee]
[Finding a old book on a bike ride through the city]

I thought I'd do a big post with some random shots of what's been going on in my life lately.  I was lucky enough to have all my favorite people come into town to celebrate my Birthday;  We filled it with delicious dinners, mimosa-fueled brunches, and topped it off with an amazing Cut Copy show.  I then spent the week in Tallahassee (the old stomping grounds) with Dan while he worked.  It was great to see all our friends and visit some of our old haunts.  We then went up to Atlanta to catch a Widespread Panic show, and, as usual, they did not disappoint.  It's been a wild couple of weeks, but it's good to finally be back home.

p.s.  Lovely Little Vices also had a big day this month - as of October 9th, LLV is officially ONE year old!  My how time flies...

birthday brunch

[Lush blouse.  F21 vegan leather shorts.  Asos boots.  orYANY bag. Ray-Ban Wayfarers.]

A few photos of the outfit I wore out to brunch for my birthday.  Nothing beats a morning spent laughing with your best friends over mimosas, bloody marys, and eggs benedict.. Hazy perfection.

abandoned castles

Lily White Skirt (similar one found here), H&M Top, Chanel Sunglasses, Aldo Shoes, Michael Kors Watch

While cruising around the beach after brunch with my lovely mother, we passed this old, abandoned building that overlooks the water.  I always wondered about it as a child, but had forgotten it since.  I was intrigued, so we decided to snap a few photos on the property, and when we peeked in the windows we found broken bottles, torn mattresses, broken chandeliers.. Everything was in ruins.  I don't know what happened there, but even in the daylight, it gave us chills.  However, weird noises and creepy vibes aside, I can always appreciate an eerie beauty of a building.

red/hot

Sam Edelman Shoes, Frenchi Tank, Almost Famous Shorts, Michael Kors Watch, Ray-Ban Clubmaster Sunglasses, Yuman H&M and Alex and Ani Bracelets

The Sam Edelman "Novato" platforms are basically everything I could want in a red shoe.  They're made of the softest suede, have a ridiculously high heel, a sassy little peep toe, and the shade of red is absolutely perfect.  This man really knows what I like.

pink clouds

[B.P. Canvas Bag.  Lily White Top.  F21 Shorts.  Boutique 9 Sandals.  Vintage/Assorted Bangle Bracelets.  Nordstrom Ring.  Urban Outfitters Necklace.]

Ever since I laid eyes on the pink, lace-up shorts from Isabel Marant's SS11 collection, I knew I had to try to replicate the look.  Luckily, it wasn't very hard to find a more affordable pair of cute, pink cut-offs (I had already splurged on my True Religion Bobby Shorts, so I had to restrain myself!).  They're a fun take on the classic American look, and I'll certainly be rocking them all summer.

p.s. I'm so sorry for the sporadic posting.  My boyfriend Dan and I are in the process of moving to Sanford, Florida, so house hunting, packing, job searching, paperwork, scheduling utilities to be turned on, reserving moving trucks and all the other joys that come with moving to a new city are currently taking all up my spare time.  My head is spinning just thinking about my To Do List.  Hopefully once we settle in I'll have a slew of new posts coming your way, though!

wild flowers & rust

[Ella Moss Dress. Jessica Simpson Shoes.  Vintage Ring.  Random Assortment of Bracelets.]

I wore this dress to a party my boyfriend's family was hosting down in Tampa.  I loved the sheer layers of the dress, but what really caught my eye was the gorgeous rust color.  I'm definitely on the lookout for more rust-hued pieces to add to my wardrobe, as it's a big color for this season, and also really flattering - especially against suntanned skin.

make sure to wear some feathers in your hair...

[Feather Hair Piece by Me.  Vena Cava for Aqua Top.  F21 Shorts.  Mossimo Supply Co. Kalayla Suede Ankle Boot.  Tarnish Satchel.  YSL, Tiffany, and Vintage Rings.  Vintage Bangles.]

After hearing about the new feather hair extension trend, I decided to do a little do-it-yourself project and make suede and feather hair clips.  I've worn it a few times now, and have received so many nice compliments.  When you wear one, it kind of makes you feel like frolicking around in an enchanted forest.  Regardless, it's a unique accessory that's a lot of fun.

A few of my girlfriends have requested that I make them one, so I might even start selling them!  Let me know if you're interested, and I'd be happy to make one for you :)

indian brave

[Truly Madly Deeply navajo print top (similar one here).  True Religion Bobby Cutoffs.  Gianni Bini Cassie Pump.  Tarnish Multi Zip Crossbody Satchel.  Vintage Woven Belt.  Free People, Alex and Ani, David Yurman and Vintage Jewelry.]

As soon as I laid eyes on this overly-huge-yet-cropped Navajo print shirt, I was sold.  It's the perfect thing to throw on after you've been in the sun all day and the air conditioning just seems way too cold in comparison (does anyone else get like this?).  I was also naturally obsessed with the print, as Navajo designs have been all over the place.  To me, the look has that light-hearted appeal that's perfect for summer.  You can find tons of similar pieces at Urban Outfitters if this top tickles your fancy (here's a few to get you started).

black lace & snake skin shoes

[F21 Shorts.  Borrowed Shirt.  Jessica Simpson "Dany" Platforms.  OrYany Bag.  Ray Ban Clubmaster Sunglasses.  Random Bangles.  Knuckle Ring (similar one here) All other rings vintage and diamond.]

These shorts exemplify my continued love affair with anything that's little and lacy.  I've had them for a while now, but have just recently started playing around with different ways to style them.  Since they're pretty short (and my heels are border-line stripper shoes), I think the baggier shirt balances them out.  Such an easy transitional look since this Florida weather can't quite seem to make up its mind on whether it's Winter or Spring.
