enfant savage

E N F A N T  S A V A G E

I love the savage, moody vibe of the photos.  Perfection - especially with this stormy weather we're experiencing in the South.

untamed

My weekend at a glance..

Spending countless hours lounging at the pool (the first photo shows some of my essential items)

Having way too much fun at happy hour.. I guess the photo quality depicts the state I was in :)

The amazing Band of Horses show; I still can't get over how unbelievable they were.  Many more photos to come.

Cupcakes from the most delicious cake shop this side of the Mississippi.

Also, here's a song from Bastard Lovechild of Rock n' Roll, a band I've been playing non-stop this week.  The song's called Seven Sisters, and it kind of reminds me of Pamela Love's  AW 2011 presentation.  Very cool.

Sorry for the randomness of this post.  I think I might still be a bit scatter brained from the weekend!  Hope you enjoy anyway.

spring inspiration: isabel marant fall 2011

Although this is from the Fall/Winter 2011 runway, there is so much inspiration to immediately draw from the newest, Native American inspired collection by the impossibly cool Isabel Marant (also seen here & here).  Fringe, feathers and sheer materials are huge for Spring, and, to my delight, will transition over into Fall and Winter.  All of Marant's pieces emulate that cool, edgy, sexy, Parisian girl vibe that is so alluring.  A certain je ne sais quoi if you will.

beautiful buzz

[Persol Sunglasses.  F21 sweater. F21 leatherette shorts.  Jessica Simpson Dany Platforms.  Vintage Leather Bracelet. YSL Ring.  Aldo Feather Earrings.]

This is me having way too much fun posing with my boyfriend's Persol sunglasses after a day of drinking gin and tonics with friends.  It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, so it would have been absurd not to spend it in the sunshine enjoying our first taste of Spring.  I can't wait for more days like this in the near future.

spring trend: rust

rust

If you're been reading my blog for a while, you might have caught on that I tend to stick with neutrals and earth tones rather than bright colors; so I was more than thrilled when I saw a beautiful variety of whites, creams, tans and blacks coming down the runway for Spring/Summer 2011.  However, the color that caught my eye the most was the unique, rust hue that seemed to be so popular with a variety of designers.  The color is different, flattering, and gives your look a pop of color while still being considered an earthy neutral.  I'm in love.  Here's a few of my favorite rust looks for Spring/Summer 2011:

Also, I was so honored to be interviewed for my friend Adrienne's blog, Thick Hair Does Not Tease.  She is such an amazing, caring, beautiful girl and is living it up in LA!  Please check it out :)

girls go by dressed in their summer clothes

Loving this sexy, playful Elle Italia photo shoot with Elisa Sednaoui.  Her soft makeup and hair juxtaposed with the hardcore, rock and roll outfits makes for a great editorial in my opinion.  All the leather, lace, studs and frayed denim will definitely serve as style inspiration for looks that will transition smoothly from Winter to Spring.

gianni bini cassie sandal

Since Spring is quickly approaching, I've been trying to get a head start on my warm weather wardrobe (see here, here, here & here).  I went shopping the other day, saw these shoes, and thought they'd be perfect to fill the wedge void in my closet.  They're super comfortable, and different than any other sandal I own.  They're also on trend, as the S/S 2011 runway produced a plethora of chunky, platform wedges.  What do you think?  There's just so many cute sandals out there that make it almost impossible for me to make up my mind..

spring teasers

Like I first stated here, I've been feining for warm weather so I can try out some new trends.  However, since it's been pouring rain and freezing outside, I thought a little dose of Spring inspiration would do me well.  As you can probably tell, I'm really loving the boho look of crochet and fringe; they have such a cool look about them that you can easily play around with.  On that same note, I'm also all about lace.  It's the perfect material to transition you from Winter to Spring - especially in black (think black lace shorts with tights now for a boudoir look, and then with a flowy white top and booties for spring).  Another look I'm loving at the moment are raw cut gem stones.. They bring me back to elementary school when I had a crazy collection of amethysts, quarts, and arrowheads.  Speaking of which, I really need to find those so I can attempt to make some jewelry..
