[B.B. Dakota Leather Jacket.  Free People Tee.  F21 Leggings.  Jeffrey Campbell Over The Knee Boots.  OrYany bag.  F21 necklace.  Yves Saint Laurant and Vintage Rings.]

I wore this look out last weekend while roaming around town, and realized I could seriously live in this thin B.B. Dakota leather jacket.  It's the perfect thickness for a place like Florida that hardly ever gets outrageously cold (and it's on sale now if you're in the market for a new jacket!).  As for the accessories, I decided to merge two of my favorite styles together - rocker and bohemian - by pairing over the knee boots with earthy accessories.  Hope you like this look.. It's the one I submitted to the lovely judges over at Refinery29 for the Next Big Style Blogger contest!

gilded roses

As I mentioned in this post, jewelry is my perfect remedy for warm weather cravings in the middle of a dreary Winter.  One of the big Spring jewelry trends that I'm loving right now is rose gold.  It's fun, unexpected, and really flattering.  The pieces I've shown above would work for an array of styles.  I would gladly take any of them in a heart beat.

winter winds

[silent + noise Blazer.  Elizabeth & James Sculptors Draped Skirt.  No Name Tank Top.  ASOS Feather Clutch.  Elizabeth & James E-Shine Booties.  Michael Kors Watch. Random Rings.]

After a really delicious brunch on Sunday, the boyfriend and I decided to take a stroll downtown to enjoy the beautiful weather.  We stumbled upon this old house that was kind of falling apart, and decided that it made a really cool background for this outfit.
Like I mentioned in this post, I'm absolutely in love with these Elizabeth & James shoes.  If you're in the market for some new black shoes, I really recommend these (guys even complimented me on them - no joke).  I paired them with this draped Elizabeth & James skirt, a simple black tank and a boyfriend blazer; a look that can easily transition you from work to cocktail hour.  The icing on the cake is my fun, feather clutch from Asos.

Also, I entered Refinery 29's Next Big Style Blogger contest.  I'd be so flattered if you voted for me.  Just click on the photo below, find the same photo on the website, and click the heart.  Thank you!!

[Wintage Mink Scarf.  Express Black Shirt.  Free People Tank.  Kensie Liquid Leggings (not the exact ones, but similar).  Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch. Christian Louboutin Heels.]

This post marks the debut of my beloved Christian Louboutin heels on Lovely Little Vices.  I received them for college graduation back in May, but have only worn them a few times; they're just so pretty I'd hate to hurt them!  This mink scarf is one of my favorite items as well.  I especially like to wear it with a casual shirt like this one to sort-of dress it down.  Because of this gloomy weather, I'll probably wear a similar look out tonight for some much needed cocktails (this week has been way too long).  Hope all of you have a lovely weekend - cheers, loves!

crochet shorts

When I first laid eyes on these Stone Cold Fox bloomers, I was instantly in love.  They would be the absolute perfect addition to my spring wardrobe.  However, they're price tag of $220 is just a little too expensive for some shorts that I would inevitably end up ruining by the end of a crazy summer.  After realizing this, I headed straight for my go-to shopping site, Shopstyle.com.  I ended up ordering these beauties pictured on the right for only $29.50.  I must say, when they arrived I was shocked by how cute and well-made they were.  The side even has a cool antique gold zipper that's not pictured on the site.  I can't wait to pair them with a slouchy black tank and some fun wedges once the weather warms up.

Here's some style inspiration:

chicken & dumplings made easy

I know this post is certainly not glamorous or really even blog worthy, but this simple Crockpot recipe for chicken & dumplings is just too good not to share.  It's an easy version of the classic recipe that's absolutely perfect for a lazy day due to its minimal prep and maximum flavor.  The outcome is incredibly hearty, and just what you want on a cold day.  Enjoy!

Crockpot Chicken & Dumplings
1 can of cream of chicken
1 can of cream of mushroom
3/4 cup chicken broth
chopped celery
chopped carrots
2 uncooked chicken breasts, cut in small pieces
2 cans of refrigerated ready-to-bake biscuit dough - cut into pieces
salt & pepper to taste
seasonings you prefer (i use cumin, poultry seasoning, and truffle salt)

Cook the soups, broth, spices and chicken on low for about six hours.  Add the carrots, celery and biscuit dough, and cook for another 1.5 - 2 hours.

It may not be your great-grandmother's famous recipe, but definitely don't knock it until you try it, kids!

cropped fur coat

One of my new favorite pieces in my closet that I never knew I wanted, much less needed, is my cropped faux fur-esq jacket (I know that's a weird description, but whatever the material is it's pictured above).  Elle even did a spread on the style earlier in the fall, which made me very excited.  It's fun and a bit funky, but the cropped cut is undeniably feminine; I can't help but feel Ă¼ber lady-like every time I slip it on.  I like to pair it with everything from skinny jeans and a tee,  to all types of leggings, and, obviously, with the perfect little dress when there's a chill in the air.  Since the lovely ladies over at Nordstrom informed me that my coat sold out everywhere pretty much instantly, here are some similar pieces.  Hopefully one will help you through a chilly January.

spring teasers

Like I first stated here, I've been feining for warm weather so I can try out some new trends.  However, since it's been pouring rain and freezing outside, I thought a little dose of Spring inspiration would do me well.  As you can probably tell, I'm really loving the boho look of crochet and fringe; they have such a cool look about them that you can easily play around with.  On that same note, I'm also all about lace.  It's the perfect material to transition you from Winter to Spring - especially in black (think black lace shorts with tights now for a boudoir look, and then with a flowy white top and booties for spring).  Another look I'm loving at the moment are raw cut gem stones.. They bring me back to elementary school when I had a crazy collection of amethysts, quarts, and arrowheads.  Speaking of which, I really need to find those so I can attempt to make some jewelry..

winter sun

[sam edelman mateo boots.  oryany bag.  eddie bauer jacket.  f21 top.  silent + noise skirt.  free people necklace.  cheap monday necklace.  yves saint laurent ring.  f21 feather ring.  tiffany diamond ring.]

Because of this unseasonable cold Florida winter, this outfit has more or less become my everyday attire.  The faux fur on the Sam Edelman boots (first mentioned here) make them nearly impossible to take off; I've even started to wear them with oversized sweaters while I lounge around the house - they're just that comfortable.  The adirondack jacket is so easy to throw on with a casual outfit, and goes perfectly with the ruggedness of the boots.  You can find these jackets at outdoor stores - just stick with a neutral color like black or army green to keep from looking like you're going on an outdoor excursion..

low luv x erin wasson

Despite the date being 1.11.11, I'm already starting to crave things like cream lace, cut off shorts, crochet accents, light colors and other summery staples.  I know I'm jumping the gun big time (especially because when it's August, I'll look back at this post and roll my eyes while dying of heat and wanting to wear fall fashion trends), but I just can't help myself; there are just so many awesome spring/summer inspirations out there right now!
So, I've decided the only logical way to ease this absurd craving is through accessories.  Enter model/designer/girl crush Erin Wasson.  Her new jewelry line, Low Luv x Erin Wasson (available here), is absolutely gorgeous, and everything I could ever want for summer-time jewelry.  She has mastered the bohemian, free-wheeling style perfectly in her line, as she is a living example of how art imitates life.  Erin definitely has one of the coolest styles out there, and I'm thrilled that we can now own some of her earth-angel designs.

And to add to my longing for summer, here's a song I played way too much last year.  Bring on the nostalgia..

elizabeth and james e-shine

[elizabeth and james "e-shine" calf hair booties]

Just received these little bundles of joy, and I couldn't be more obsessed.  I think I have found my perfect shoe.  They aren't ridiculously high like most of my heels, but the deep front cut makes the shoes undeniably sexy.  On top of that, the calf hair adds a luxurious texture, and the hook-and-eye closures give the shoes a French lingerie feel.  I can't wait to take these out for a spin.
