new year's eve inspiration

There's nothing I love more than getting all dressed up for a night out, so New Year's Eve is certainly one of my favorite holidays.  Since it's such a big deal to me, I usually tend to spend way too much time choosing my outfit.  In an attempt to avoid spending what seems like hours playing around in my closet, I put together 3 very different looks for whatever your NYE plans may be.  I know they stir up a lot of inspiration for me - whether I want to go for an artsy/bohemian look, a glam/Parisian look, or a laid-back/luxe look - so hopefully they help you style a fun outfit as well.  Everyone knows you've got to bring in the new year with some serious style.. Don't let 2011 be any exception, my darlings.

Look I - Bohemian

Look II - Parisian

Look III - Laid-back Luxe

Oh yes, and don't forget to stock up on a few bottles of this.. Embrace all your lovely little vices to bid farewell to an amazing 2010.

drunken gummy bears

Since my roommate had just finished up all of her exams and D and I had just wrapped up a long work week,  we decided to get creative and make a little treat - drunken gummy bears.  Weird, I know, but seriously, who doesn't love gummy bears and vodka?  The night before, we put a package of gummy bears (you can use whatever kind of gummy that tickles your fancy) into a bowl, covered them with vodka (again, you can use whatever kind you like - we just happened to have Smirnoff lying around), and then sealed them with plastic wrap overnight.  The next day, the gummies had transformed into juicy, vodka-soaked goodness.  We opted to make the snack even more fun by using chop sticks to pick them up so we could avoid having gooey fingers.  They were a lot of fun to pop into your mouth, and ended up being similar to bite-sized jello shots.  I definitely recommend them for a fun, casual party - they'll be sure to entertain!

holiday parties

Now that the Holiday Season is in full swing, the number one thing on my mind (besides getting all my shopping done) is all the lovely parties that are coming up.  I love getting all dressed up in rich colors and embellished accessories.  This bag happens to be a favorite of mine for this time of year - it makes an outfit feel that much more special with it's sporadic array of sequins (and allows me to easily hold a cocktail and sample yummy h'orderves with its long strap).  I'm also in love with this dress from the UK online shop, Asos.  The ruching reminds me of some of the pieces in Burberry's SS10 collection that I love so much.  Anyway, hope you're having a great start to the week, my dears, and may there be many lovely Holiday parties on your social agenda this year!

french vogue's 90th anniversary party

For my first "non-introductory" post, I thought it would be fitting to feature an event that involves WAY too many of my favorite things.
To celebrate French Vogue's 90th anniversary, Carine Roitfeld, the magazine's editor-in-chief, hosted "Eyes Wide Shut" - an incredibly opulent ball named after Stanly Kubrick's last film before his death.  Every stylish guest arrived dramatically masked, and most of them were in spectacular avant-garde ensembles.  It was pure Parisian fashion heaven.  It's pretty sad to think about what crazy things I would have done to attend that ball!

Little Love List:
1. French Vogue is amazing.
2. The event was held at the Hotel Pozzo di Borgo, an early 1700's hotel on the Left Bank (the artsier-side of Paris.. Ooh la-la).
3. They honored an amazing film directer with the name of the gala.
4. So many famous models, designers, and fashion big-wigs were partying together, that the photos from the ball provide endless eye-candy.
5. The event simultaneously celebrated the spooky fall season as well as the always remarkable Paris Fashion Week.
6. Tons of noir, noir, NOIR(the color that you'll quickly see is my favorite hue for clothing. It's classic, but edgy. It makes you look pulled together, yet it's effortlessly chic. I simply can't get enough of it.)!
7. Um, who doesn't love the mystery and seduction of a masked ball?

Enjoy!
