inspiration: the roaring twenties

Ever since I was a young girl, I've been fascinated by the 1920's; I love everything from the literature (anything by Fitzgerald is gold), the clothing, the provocative underground night life, the rebellious attitude, and just the general sense of decadence the decade exudes.  If I could time travel, I'd live back then right this moment.  However, that obviously isn't going to happen any time soon, so I'm happy to say that I believe the 1920's will be making a major comeback in 2011.  I've seen speakeasys pop up in trendy neighborhoods, and glam-bohemian looks everywhere in department stores (think fur, lace, beading, and feathers).
When I saw this lookbook by Shopbop, I was immediately mesmerized by all the amazing looks; the vibe is sexy and vintage, yet unique and very fashion-forward.  Perfect style inspiration for 2011.  You can purchase some of the items from the above looks here, and if you're still feeling nostalgic for the roaring '20s, I highly recommend pouring yourself a classic cocktail and dancing your way over to the nearest dark, sultry bar.  You go Baby Vamp.

Gin Fizz
2 oz gin

juice of 1/2 lemons
1 tsp powdered sugar
carbonated water
Shake gin, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a highball glass over two ice cubes. Fill with carbonated water, stir, and serve.

The best part of the twenties were the shorter hemlines with the flapper dresses and the hats. I love these pieces.

I completely agree! It was such a huge moment in fashion history when those hem lines went up. So provocative at the time.. I love it when people rebel, and end up making a huge style statement.
